Help with a HP

Hi there, I have downloaded the new Vista Beta 2 and I was wondering a few things. With my Hewlett Packard, my drive is partitioned into 2 drive with my d: drive being the backup containing all the backups of my computer. If I install beta 2, will it screw up the drive and merge everything or will ot all be safe, incase I want to revert to Windows XP again? Would the upgrade feature work better for this? -- 3800+ AMD Athlon Processor 200 GB HDD 256 Meg Geforce Video

Unless you are comfortable with backing up and restoring your hard drive completely I wouldn't even contemplate installing the Beta. The very fact that it is a Beta means that there is a possibility that it will completely scr*w your PC so you must be confident about your capability to revert to a disk image of the PC before you start.
That said it should not affect the layout of your hard disk.
